We said good-bye to P.R. Sunday a.m. We slowed down in order to jig a bit on a reef and would you believe I caught my first ever halibut! Not that big – about 30 inches long – but enough for a couple meals for us all. And Norm caught some kind of a cod. We stopped to anchor in Lawson Harbour on Lewis Island, and Norm and I took the Zodiac and fished for a couple hours before bed time – two codfish and fun! There were three crab in the pot in the morning .

We arrived in Oona River after lunch to have a visit with Agi, a neighbour of Lewis’ from Pender Hbr. and who comes here in the summer to work on improving a big piece of waterfront property of which a big forested part goes up the mountainside. It has a nice cabin on it and big work shed which he built. His friend Willy, from Kimberly was helping him as he likes to visit and help Agi. there. They put tea on for us and nice German goodies that Willy’s wife sent along. From here our return travel plan home will take us on a different route going through Ogden Channel, between Porcher and Pitt Island, and then through Petrel Channel and out to Principe Channel, between Pitt and Banks Island. This will be a more outside route in places and will give us a chance to explore new territory. We anchored in Captain Cove at the N.W. corner of Pitt Island that night.

There was a 5:15am wake up call Tues. It was so foggy that MaggiLou followed Norm in the skiff to fetch the crab pots so that he wouldn’t get lost. Eight nice crab! The fog lifted about 11am and it was a beaautiful hot day. Time to dig out the shorts at last!! We did an early afternoon anchor in Wright Inlet – Ala Passage. Norm and I fished from the Zodiac and the girls (Marg., Carol, Annie and Millie) did the "doggie" run and found a little paradise of inner tidal pools amongst the little islands. Norm and I checked it out later and indeed they were right – it WAS beautiful!! I was disappointed that the camera batteries needed replacing so no pictures! Later while we were sitting on Carol’s boat enjoying strawberry shortcake and tea, Dave spotted what he thought was a snake swimming right beside the boat. He soon determined that it was a toredo, white in color with little legs all along it and about 16 inches long. Yuk!! These are the creatures that eat into wooden boats (that aren’t copper painted on the bottom), logs, etc., leaving a mess of holes. It was another grand day and I was particularly happy when Norm was able to free my best fishing lure that got hooked up on bottom!
